Brandon’s first two days of the all-star break have been packed full of excitement. He arrived Thursday morning and teamed up with Nike to dedicate a court opening at New Orleans Park and Recreation’s St. Bernard Community Center. After that ceremony he went back to his hotel before jumping on a shuttle over to the EA Sports NBA Live 08 tournament. The tournament featured Brandon and other NBA stars such as LaMarcus Aldridge, Kevin Durant, Tony Paker, and a number of others in a single elimination tournament. Brandon played the first round as the Blazers against Caron Butler who played as his team, the Wizards. Despite it being the first time he had played the game, Brandon beat Caron by 30 points to make it to the next round where he went up against teammate LaMarcus Aldridge. Brandon played as the Lakers against LaMarcus’s Blazers. The game came down to a final shot which Brandon couldn’t hit with Derek Fisher. LaMarcus went on to the finals where he was taken down by Tony Parker and the Spurs. Stay tuned to broy7.com for video of the event.
Friday morning Brandon headed to the sophomore team practice from 9:30 – 10:30 and then did media interviews and requests for the next hour. He took the shuttle back to hotel where he again was available for media between 12:30-115. After a brief time to relax Brandon is boarding a bus right now to head to the area for the Rookie/Sophomore Challenge tonight at 8:00. Brandon is excited about the game and is looking forward to having a good time. ESPN wrote about Brandon in the game by saying he is
“The only player here that can earn legit league MVP votes. Roy is an elite player in the NBA and will also play in the All-Star Game on Sunday.
He could dominate this game on many levels, but he’s a great teammate and may be happy to share the limelight with his fellow sophomores. He’s got more important things to pursue starting next week.”
